Book Haul

Book Haul: June 2017

Hey guys! I have a massive book haul for June; a total of 42 books! This has been a great month for me when it comes to book collecting! I went to BookCon for the second time, June 3rd and 4th, and was able to snag some pretty cool books, swag, and ARCs (Advanced Reader’s Copies); along with getting some books signed by my favorite authors! It was an amazing experience! Now on to the haul..!

BOOKCON

BookCon is a convention that took place this year in NYC. It’s an experience made just for book lovers! You are able to meet your favorite authors, get autographs, snag free books and ARCs, obtain rad bookish swag, and attend panels hosted by authors on numerous different topics. Here’s what I was able to grab up:

This month’s theme was All Hail King, a box specifically for Stephen King fans. Of course I had to have it being a HUGE fan of Stephen King! Here’s what I got:

  • Gwendy’s Button Box- Stephen King
  • Pork Pie Hat- Peter Straub

STEPHEN KING BOOKS

Since I have so many books in this haul by Stephen King, I decided to just group them together. As you can see, I’m slowly but surely building my Stephen King collection. These are not my complete collection; only what I bought in June. I will not be including Gwendy’s Button Box in this list since it was mentioned above.

  • The Bachman Books
    • This is a collection of short stories
      • Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork, The Running Man
      • Rage is currently no longer in print; therefore, extremely hard to find. I got this copy off of eBay and I couldn’t be more excited!

  • Salem’s Lot: Illustrated Edition
  • End of Watch
    • Book 3 in the Mr. Mercedes series

  1. 42 books!!! Wow, I don’t think I’ve had a haul that big, like, ever. Amazing! Of course, I lingered the longest around The King’s pile (surely that’s what he should be called??), and I haven’t read any apart from one (he has written more books than I’ve probably read in life or something xD) Dead Zone is what hooked me on Stephen King back when I was maybe 14 though! You haven’t read it yet, right? It’s amazing.

    1. I will have to put The Dead Zone at the top of my King reading list. Planning on reading 1 King a month. Most are so big that it takes a good portion of time to read. (IT took me a whopping 2 weeks 😅) If I were to recommend one King to read it would be 11/22/63. It’s AMAZING!! It may even be my favorite book of all-time! History, time travel, JFK, a touch of horror/paranormal. What’s not to love?!
And 42 books? Yeah, I typically don’t get that many in one month, but BookCon was a huge addition and those were all free. And my Stephen King haul were BOGO at a used book store in my small-town so I paid under $40 for all of them! It was a steal! I’m a bargain book buyer so I rarely ever pay full price for a book.

      1. That IS a steal!! And I don’t actually have that one by King yet. I’ve heard about it 🙂 yes, they can take a while, but it’s so worth it! Have you read The Stand? It’s my most recent read of his, and it was amazing. I should read more of his books!

    1. This is not a typical book haul month for me for sure! It was just a good month. And BookCon is great. I’ve gone twice now. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend going! It’s so much fun and a great way to interact with fellow book lovers and authors!
