This past weekend I went to Potterfest in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania (just outside of Philadelphia). It was a two day festival. I had the time of my life here! There was so much to do and see! The best part was that it didn’t cost a thing to go! You could spend as little or as much as you wanted and still have a great time! We didn’t pay for any activities, but we did buy food and drinks!
There was an entire street that was blocked off for the festival. All the shops on this street participated in decorating for the event! Down below you can see how some of the shops decorated for Potterfest!
Below are the different drinks and food we had. We got these awesome Harry Potter mugs. These mugs were filled with hot apple cider. My boyfriend, Sal, got the added “Shot of the Dark Ages” which was a salted caramel whiskey added into the cider. He had himself a few of these!
We had dinner at the Iron Hill Brewery. Sal had the fish and chips on a page out of a London newspaper and the “IPA that Shall Not Be Named” beer. My dinner wasn’t anything Harry Potter related so there is no picture of that.
Next up, I had the “Potent Potter Punch”, and the “Pure-Blood Orange Fizzy.” Both of these were delicious!
There was a booth with a bunch of Harry Potter themed desserts. We both had a snitch which was really just a peanut butter chocolate truffle. DELICIOUS!
I had the pumpkin juice that came with this cup with all the houses on it. This was so yummy! The next picture is a shot of “Fire Whiskey”, which was actually just Fireball.
We got this amazing “Deathly Howls” pizza, which was just a white pizza with a balsamic drizzle in the shape of the deathly hallows symbol. Really yummy!
Now for my favorite drink of the night…BUTTERBEER! It was so tasty and foamy! I loved it!
All throughout the festival, there were different props you could take pictures with. Down below you can see the fun that we had with these props!
There were these amazing ice sculptures at the festival. My favorite was Dobby! Down below I have pictures of Dobby, Hedwig, a snitch, and a dragon. These sculptures were fantastic!
There were various activities throughout the festival. What I have pictured were the free activities. There was a read-along of the books where you could just relax and listen to the book. They had acrobatics which were amazing! There was a wizard dance party with a live DJ. This was a lot of fun! There was a photo opportunity to take a picture with Fluffy. He was so big!! They had Wizards Chess where anyone could join in. There was also a sorting hat ceremony where anyone could jump in line and get sorted. Below I have Dumbledore pictured doing the ceremony, but they also had McGonagall and Snape doing the sorting as well. There was also a Quidditch tournament that we didn’t make it to and plenty of other paid activities, such as potions class, wand classes, and a scavenger hunt.
Here I have pictured the two items that my boyfriend bought for me. He got me the Harry Potter glasses and scar ring and Hermione’s wand necklace! I love both of these items!
As you walked throughout the festival, there were times you could take pictures with actors/actresses dressed up as the Harry Potter characters. I was lucky enough to get pictures with Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy and the deatheaters, Voldemort and Bellatrix, and a dementor!
As you can see, this festival was a huge success! I am so happy I was able to go! I have to give a big shoutout to my boyfriend Sal for planning this trip and taking me here! I had a blast and would definitely go again!
This looks amazing! Is it an annual event?
I wonder if we have something similar in the U.K…

It was amazing! I made sure I went this year knowing Iām moving to Texas in just a few short months and knew I probably wouldnāt be able to go again. I hope someday you get to go! I do believe they are making this an annual festival (though Iām not 100% sure about that.)

Eeek! Iāve been so excited to read this post, oh my word, it looks like you had an absolutely fantastic time! I love your HP glasses ring by the way and the fact that the festival was free, canāt think of anything better than that! The food sounds and looks delicious, Itās awesome that all of the shops were decorated to be HP themed too. Did you get to keep the beer mugs? The Dobby ice sculpture is so cute! I wish they did a festival like this in the U.K. āŗļø

Oh my gosh, it was the greatest time! It made my nerd heart happy! š¤ Yes, we got to keep the mugs! I love them! And you never know, they may end up starting a HP festival in the U.K. someday! I do believe this was only the second year for this particular festival so itās rather new.

Oh wow, this sounds like soooo much fun!!! Like a small town version of LeakyCon! It sounds like the food vendors in particular were sooooo creative. š Are you two planning to go back next year?

I wish I could go back next year! We made sure we went this year bc we are moving to Texas in just a few short months and knew we probably wouldnāt be able to make it back. It was really convenient since the festival was located only 2 hour from my bfās current apartment. But traveling 1500 miles to go next year seems like itāll be just too far. Iām glad I was able to go at least once though! š
