The Beauty of Darkness is the third and final book in the Remnant Chronicles trilogy. This series just really blew me away honestly. I had no idea that I would love this series so much when I first picked up The Kiss of Deception. I am so so happy that I decided to give this series a shot! The Beauty of Darkness was such a fantastic ending to a series that I will now forever hold dear to my heart.
The main reason I love this series so much is because of the characters. They were so realistic that they felt like they could be my friends. I wanted to be part of the group so badly! The friendship in this story is fantastic! I didn’t want the story to end because it felt like I was losing my friends as well.
Our main character, Lia, went through some major character development as the series went on. Starting off as just a scared girl to becoming a strong leader. I really enjoyed being able to follow Lia on her journey of growth and development in order to become a voice for the oppressed people and their hope.
I have mixed feelings on how this book ended though. There was death of course. Not everyone can live; that just wouldn’t be realistic. But oh my gosh, Mary Pearson really did rip my heart out a few times by killing off some of my favorite characters. I’m still not over some of the deaths. The reason I have mixed feelings on this series isn’t because of the deaths though. Those I expected. I just didn’t care for how the book/series ended. It felt to me kind of like a cheater’s way out. It just ended kind of unexpectedly at the end of a scene and I thought that it wasn’t expanded upon enough. I really do think this book would have done well with a prologue so as to give the reader some closure. That’s really my only complaint I have about this book.
Overall, I think this series deserves more love and hype than it has received! If you enjoy a good fantasy story with a strong leader and kingdoms fighting for power, do yourself a favor and pick this series up! I am giving this book a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars!
