2018 Reading Challenge

Hey everyone! I am attempting to do my very first reading challenge ever! (Not including Goodread’s Reading Challenge.) My friend Vicki @ Tippytups created this challenge and encouraged me to join along! (Click the link to see the challenge post!) I chose this specific challenge because it is only 12 books for an entire year and each challenge seemed like one I could easily accomplish without too much stress. I normally don’t participate in reading challenges just because I don’t like the stress and pressure that goes along with them. I am someone who tends to get stressed and anxious very easily, so I usually just avoid challenges all together. When Vicki shared this challenge in our little group chat, I was all for it! I figure if I choose one challenge a month, then I will be able to complete it by the end of 2018! Easy enough! I can handle one challenge a month.

THE CHALLENGE:

I am on my third book of the year and I am happy to say I have already completed 2 of the challenges! I am going to list below my tentative plan (some will be left blank as I haven’t chosen the books yet.) I am also making it a personal goal for myself to not overlap books, so if a book happens to fit under two categories or more, I am going to only choose to put it under one. I want to get the most out of this challenge and read a total of 12 books for it. Check marks mean I have completed the challenge.

MY TENTATIVE PLAN:

  • A book published this year ✔️

    • Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp

  • A book picked for you by someone else (My friend Miranda chose a book for me)

    • I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell

  • A book that you can finish in a day

    • ???

  • A book that you’ve already read

    • Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

  • A book borrowed from your local library

    • ???

  • A book that is a friend’s favorite (Also chosen by my friend Miranda)

    • And the Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich

  • A book published before you were born

    • Planning on a Stephen King book

  • A book you own but have never read

    • ??? (I have so many choices for this one so I am leaving this one open)

  • A book that is non-fiction

    • The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel

  • A book from your childhood

    • The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman (I want to re-read the entire series this year)

  • A book from a bestseller list ✔️

    • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

  • A book written in the decade you were born (1990s)

    • Planning on a Stephen King book

I am so excited about this challenge! Let me know down below if you are planning on participating in this reading challenge as well! Happy Reading!
